Detroit is twice the size in area as Boston and only 680,000. Alot of poor people. Not a whole lot of tax money coming in to take care of things

We moved from Westland in 2018 and moved outside of Flint. Night and day. People are grumpy the closer they get to Detroit. Traffic makes me insane. Love country life.

I didn't plan on leaving ann arbor but I went to Ypsilanti one day and couldn't get back into ann arbor when I tried to return. My parking space was taken

I find it disgusting that 22 million is spent on one family, not to mention the price of a full-time cleaning staff & insane utility bills, while the city of Detroit is in such desperate needs of rejuvenation.

I live in Detroit. About 2 miles from Downtown. Our Airbnb guests sometimes take the bus so they don't need a rental car. It's pretty cheap and straight forward. In other words, its not that bad. I drive really old cars, so I usually drive, because it's easy for us to find parking. Most out of towners fight for secured lots or structures, I just put my stuff on the side of the road anywhere. It either free, or $1 per hour. So, pretty easy. I was able to buy a BIG OLD HOUSE for cheap. If you like old houses, and know, or are capable of learning how to fix things yourself (this is what youtube is for haha) there are still very good deals to be had, and in mostly laid back quiet neighborhoods. If you want turn key, yeah, good luck. To many people competing for the same thing. In other words, there is a shortage of move in ready housing, but this is and has been kicking off a residential construction boom. There is even a variety of career options here, and cost of living compared to other cities of the same size is MUCH lower here as well. It's not perfect, but if you have an education, and some common sense, you can probably create a pretty good life for yourself here.

I have lived here in Michigan for 53 years and I hate it! Unfortunately, family keeps me here.

I was born in Hell, (fun to say) then grew up in Farmington Hills, then moved around a ton in my life- currently live in Detroit. One of my favorite places I’ve lived was in Wyandotte, in the early 2000s, raised my kids across the street from the elementary. Next year moving up north, I’m not a city girl. The only nightlife I want is the stars ✨ Hiking and biking around the lakes and forests, small town living. We spend every weekend up there, hate coming back down state. Traffic, crime, gunshots… 🙉 Plus, I seriously can’t handle the heat anymore, I like cooler temps. 🥵
